MemberIQ's scan of 7,372 US chambers of commerce found that GrowthZone/ChamberMaster runs 41.5% of chambers whose membership software could be determined, and that 39.4% of them run no membership platform at all.

How many chambers of commerce are there in the US?
The US Chamber of Commerce directory list we scanned has 7,372 chambers. 6,222 list a website and 1,148 list none. The IRS counts a smaller set: its Business Master File has 6,025 active 501(c)(6) organizations described as a chamber of commerce, and 2,850 of them report at least $150,000 in revenue.
Of the 6,222 chambers with a website, we could determine the membership platform, or confirm there was none, for 4,787. The rest could not be read:
- 672 site down
- 430 behind a bot wall
- 244 domain lost (parked, for sale or taken over)
- 89 needs manual review
What membership software do chambers of commerce use?
2,900 of the 4,787 determinable chambers (60.6%) run a membership platform we could detect. One vendor holds most of that market: GrowthZone/ChamberMaster is on 1,988 chambers, 68.6% of those with a detected platform. The remaining 912 are spread across 15 other vendors.

These counts cover chambers only. Several of these vendors serve many other kinds of associations that are not in this list, so a small count here says nothing about a vendor's size overall.
How many chambers use GrowthZone or ChamberMaster?
1,988. GrowthZone is the company behind ChamberMaster, and many chambers show signs of both products. Where the product could be told apart:

- 854 ChamberMaster only
- 66 GrowthZone only
Across all vendors, 47 chambers still have a DNS record pointing at a vendor that no longer serves it, a sign that they have moved to something else. We counted those as former customers, not current ones.
How many chambers of commerce have no membership software?
1,887 of 4,787 (39.4%) showed no membership platform on the homepage, in DNS, or on up to 5 linked pages. That does not mean they run on nothing. 788 of them (41.8%) use at least one do-it-yourself tool in its place. The most common, in order:

Does a chamber's budget change which software it uses?
Yes, sharply. Among chambers with a determinable platform and a matched Form 990, more than half of those under $150,000 in revenue run no membership platform. From $300,000 up, most run GrowthZone/ChamberMaster. The largest chambers, over $1.5 million, are the one band where GrowthZone's share falls again.

Small. The median revenue of the 4,038 chambers we matched to a Form 990 is $240,861. 4,661 chambers e-filed a 990 or 990-EZ in the 2024–2025 IRS indexes: 92% list a website, 79% name an executive, and only 53% report any paid staff. The median number of employees reported is 4.

How healthy are chamber of commerce websites?
Of the 6,222 chambers that list a website, 672 were down when we checked, and:
- 534 broken tls/ssl certificate
- 244 domain lost (parked, for sale or taken over)
- 57 injected spam (site hacked)
A broken certificate makes browsers warn visitors away, and a lost domain can send members and search traffic to a stranger's page.
Methodology
- The chamber list is the US Chamber of Commerce directory seed list: 7,372 chambers. The scan ran on 17–18 September 2026.
- For each chamber with a website we made one GET request to the homepage, looked up common subdomains in DNS (business., members., directory., events., join. and others), checked any vendor CNAME records live, and crawled up to 5 linked pages.
- Every vendor fingerprint was verified on real sites before it was trusted.
- A vendor CNAME that now returns a 404 counts as a former customer, not a current one (47 chambers).
- Sites behind a bot wall are counted as unknown, never as “no platform”.
- Budget, staffing and fiscal-year figures are public-domain IRS data: the Business Master File and e-filed Forms 990 and 990-EZ from the 2024–2025 TEOS indexes. No third-party database was used.
- This is a scan of public websites. No individual chamber is named in this report.
Limitations
- Detection relies on public website signals. A chamber that uses a platform only behind a login may read as having none, so the “no platform” share is an upper bound.
- 1,435 chambers with a website could not be determined (down, bot-walled, lost domain or awaiting review), and 1,148 list no website. Shares in this report are of determinable chambers only.
- Vendors also serve associations that are not chambers and are not in this list, so these counts are not a measure of any vendor's whole business.
- A Form 990 is 9 to 21 months old by the time it is published, so revenue and staffing figures lag the scan.
- Subgroup totals can differ from headline totals by a few chambers where records could not be classified.
